Discounted Sporting Goods – Golf

Golf is a sport enjoyed by millions of people world-wide. People from all ages enjoy the feeling of basically competing against themselves. In a previous post about sporting goods, we mentioned that some people are still golfing 5 days a week well into their “senior years”. There’s nothing like the feeling of getting out in the open air and enjoying a nice round of Golf.

One problem people face when they begin to learn golf is that they need to buy the proper sports equipment to enjoy it. While they may be able to rent a set of golf clubs, these may be like the coats and ties that some restaurants keep for patrons that come under-dressed. Simply put, they may not fit you correctly. So naturally the allure of buying your own golf clubs, golf shoes and golf accessories is very powerful.

The first thought for many people is to by discounted or used golf equipment. Usually that used equipment is in the form of a set of clubs. The theory is valid. They are just learning the game and don’t want to splurge on a new set of clubs and pay top dollar for equipment for a sport that they may not stick with. However, they may be wary of buying used equipment because they think it may not be good quality. These fears may be unfounded. The equipment may be in great condition but the previous owner may have experienced a life changing event that preventing them from continuing with their golf game.

Or the equipment could belong to someone who likes to have the latest and greatest in the world of golf equipment. You know the type. They are always the ones with the shiny new club, the newest ball guaranteed to fly 300 yards or the new line of shoes guaranteed to shave 3 strokes off your score. They buy the new item and then a year later, they are on to the next “new thing”.

Another way to save money is to buy the previous year’s equipment that has been discounted by manufacturers. By shopping online, you can find out the available equipment that manufacturers are trying to clear off their shelves to make way for the new models.

Whether its previously owned golf clubs or simply last year’s model that a manufacturer is trying to clear out, the options are plentiful for the neophyte golfer when they are looking for sporting goods that won’t break the bank.
