Remember the old adage of “Never go to the supermarket when hungry”? The same holds true when deciding to purchase golfing gear. You don’t want to walk into the store or click on the website without a master plan for what you need and how much you’ll spend. If you don’t then you could possibly blow your entire wallet on just a few clubs. So the first thing you need to determine is your budget. Once you’ve identified how much of your bank account you’re willing to spend, you can then focus on actually researching and then purchasing the equipment.

As with anything widely used, some manufacturers will be preferred over others. Some people swear by Callaway clubs, others prefer Top Flite. You’ll need at the very basic, a set of clubs that consists of woods and irons as well as a putter. The material composition of the clubs and the method and design of the manufacturing process differs from one brand to another. You’ll also need a golf bag, golf balls and a pair of golf shoes. With so many different manufacturers and items to choose from, this presents a problem for the sporting goods purchaser. So the general rule is – go with what feels good. What do we mean by this? This means that you need to take hold of the clubs, the shoes and try them on for yourself. Grab the club, swing it around. See how it feels when you swing. Are the shoes comfortable? Do they seem like they give good grip but not so strong that they cause problems with your knees because they stick into the ground and won’t budge? These are some of the things you’ll need to address when considering purchasing a particular item.
